A manipulação genética trás várias possibilidades que podem ser positivas ou negativas, elas podem ter fins saudáveis ou estéticos. Não podemos esquecer que desde o início da Revolução industrial a humanidade tem progressivamente avançado em termos de descobertas científicas e novas invenções que tem facilitado à vida dos humanos.

CHOQUE CULTURAL

Criticamos veementemente a Igreja Católica por ter condenado Galileu por este afirmar que a Terra não era o centro do universo. Hoje nem mesmo a Igreja Católica acredita que o universo gira em torno da Terra. Quando Oswaldo Cruz instituiu a vacina obrigatória para combater diversos surtos de doenças como a varíola, a imprensa o atacou fazendo charges maldosas em que aparecia Oswaldo Cruz com uma furadeira perfurando os braços das pessoas. Naquela época  a população do Rio de Janeiro foi as ruas e fizeram protestos violentos virando bondes, promovendo incêndios e confrontos com a polícia. Hoje o Brasil e o Rio de Janeiro são gratos a Oswaldo Cruz pelas melhorias sanitárias que ele promoveu bem como as tais vacinas tão contestadas, mas que se tornou imprescindível à sociedade moderna.

Manipulação genética é uma nova técnica científica que faz parte da biotecnologia visando o aprimoramento das espécies. Faz muito tempo que a humanidade vem manipulando geneticamente os animais de corte e de produção leiteira. Em busca de maiores lucros e de meios viáveis para sustentar a crescente praga e infestação de humanos, estes melhoramentos genéticos no campo da agropecuária está tornando possível o planeta sustentar tanta gente com alimentos. Conheço um fazendeiro que há quarenta anos atrás, seu gado de corte estava pronto para o abate em quatro anos, e o peso médio de um bovino era de 600 quilos. Com a manipulação genética, estes animais, agora chegam a mais de uma tonelada em apenas dois anos, quando já estão pronto para o abate.

O uso de agrotóxico e a manipulação genética têm permitido o aprimoramento de todos os alimentos básico da dieta humana, com os vegetais não tem sido diferente, em especial temos frequentemente visto notícias de desenvolvimento genético de certas plantas que produzem frutos mais vigorosos e que se tornam resistentes a maior número de pragas. Assim, hoje temos grandes safras de milho, soja, trigo, e outros grãos e cereais graças à manipulação genética, geralmente, na fase mais simples, isso é feito com a seleção de grãos de qualidade. Até mesmo o pequeno agricultor, sem grande instrução agronômica sabe que os melhores grãos e sementes devem ser destinados para fazerem mudas, para que a herança genética seja transmitida para os novos grãos.

OS TRANGÊNICOS

Muitos países do mundo possuem barreiras contra a comercialização dos alimentos transgênicos, pois não estão seguros quanto às implicações futuras que a ingestão destes alimentos causará aos animais e humanos que deles se alimentarem. O Japão e a Comunidade Européia possuem tais barreiras. No Brasil e no mundo, as embalagens de alimentos  deveriam informar se o alimento é ou não a base de transgênico, mas agora no dia 15 de agosto de 2012, a Justiça brasileira determinou que a fábrica de chocolates e sorvetes, Nestlé, informassem nas embalagens se os seus produtos são ou não transgênicos e o grau destas manipulações geneticas.  Em síntese, o material orgânico transgênico, sofreu uma mutação genética induzida pelos cientistas, sendo introduzido em uma determinada planta, um elemento de DNA que não faz parte da sua constituição original, em geral, tal manipulação visa transmitir uma característica para aquela planta que lhe dê uma vantagem sobre as plantas normais, naturais. Mas o véu da vida e de seus segredos ainda não está revelado e já se constatou casos como o do gene da Noz que foi introduzido na soja, mas que também transmitiu uma reação alérgica, o que tornou aquela mutação proibida.  Há muita resistência aos alimentos trangenicos no mundo porque não foram suficientemente testadas para sabermos que tipo de malefício estes alimentos pode causar no futuro.

CÉLULAS-TRONCO E CELULAS EMBRIONÁRIAS

Na engenharia genética, os cientistas passaram a desenvolver células embrionárias que potencialmente podem formar um ser humano clonado, mas na verdade, eles não deixam o clone se desenvolver, apenas subtraem a célula que lhe interessa para podê-la usar com fins terapêutico, essencialmente em um transplante para curar uma doença. A produção destas células embrionárias é usada em transplantes, pois elas diminuem as chances de rejeições do organismo que receberá o transplante.

Enquanto as células embrionárias são eticamente contestáveis, porque elas são produtos de uma vida nova que é produzida a partir do óvulo, as células-tronco são produzidas a partir de outra parte do corpo.

Em síntese, para se obter células embrionárias, se cria uma vida humana em estado inicial de embrião e depois de retirar as células necessárias, descarta-se o embrião. Em novembro de 2011, o Papa Bento XVI condenou o uso de células-embrionárias, baseado no simples fato que a vida surge no momento da concepção, e ao destruir um embrião, estamos destruindo um ser humano. Concordo em gênero, número e grau. Não é ético matar um ser humano em potencial para potencialmente salva um outro ser humano.

CONCLUSÃO

Na busca constante pela preservação da vida humana, na luta para que a espécie humana tenha melhor qualidade de vida e retarde o máximo que pode a morte, os cientistas estão cada vez mais fazendo uso da engenharia genética. As técnicas de clonagem estão sendo testadas em vários laboratórios em volta do mundo, não é de se duvidar que em busca de grandes descobertas e melhores resultados, em uma competição entre laboratórios, cientistas e nações, que muito provavelmente estão fazendo testes secretos e sem discussão do que seja moralmente aprovado ou não. Acredito que estão buscando resultados a qualquer custo. A espécie humana é mestre em dissimular, mentir e são senhores da hipocrisia. Muitos dos indivíduos de nossa espécie, mata em um dia e no outro vai ao velório chorar. O que quero dizer é que os discursos que muitos fazem, não correspondem ao que eles realmente praticam as portas fechadas.  Se a maioria de nós presenciarmos o que, e como realmente são feitos testes e experiências científicas ficaríamos estupefatos. 

A humanidade está descobrindo forças e energias poderosíssimas como a energia nuclear, a manipulação genética e a anti-matéria. A questão que fica é: Não estamos avançando para a nossa própria destruição? Quem garante que não usaremos estas forças para fins imorais? A nossa ganância e busca pelo poder não será a causa de nossa aniquilação????
